About the role:The Support Officer role is to provide workplace support to Merriwa’s NDIS participants, and to assist them in achieving their goals as set out in their NDIS plans.
The Support Officer role supports participants to reach their full potential through attainment and development of skills and abilities while at work; while positively contributing to a work environment that places significant value on personal growth, respect, dignity and diversity.
As a Support Officer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
• Excellent knowledge and experience in both verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to identifyout the role: opportunities for improvement and deliver positive change utilising the principles of continuous improvement.
• Ability to liaise with staff at every level of the organisation.
• Develop and foster positive team relationships and provide professional advice and assistance to the business as required in relation to employment services for participants.
• Such professional advice and assistance should be developed from qualifications, and current knowledge of best practice standards.
• Use a collaborative approach to work with NDIS participants to undertake the development, implementation, monitoring and review of their Support in Employment NDIS goals.
• Training will be a key focus of the role, with weekly progress updates required in the employee’s journal notes.
• Work with the NDIS participant’s external support networks, to create positive opportunities for the employee whilst at work.
• Professional attitude and appearance, warm and friendly approach
• Experience working with Disabilities
Mandatory Checks and Qualifications:
• NDIS Worker Screener Check
• Working with Children Check
• Certificate III or higher in Disability Support, Allied Health or Social Work, or relevant field.
