Your Opportunity
As a Support Recovery Worker, you will play a pivotal role in inspiring positive transformations in the lives of those we serve. You will be dedicated to fostering constructive and non-judgemental connections with our tenants, grounded in mutual respect and understanding. Your primary focus will be on nurturing relationships that cultivate growth and resilience, empowering tenants to forge meaningful connections that foster personal development and well-being.
You will be instrumental in addressing the multifaceted challenges associated with homelessness, providing crucial support and guidance every step of the way. Through your empathetic approach, you will help tenants navigate their journeys toward stability by facilitating connections to essential resources, family networks, vibrant communities, and rich cultural experiences.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Build positive and non-judgemental relationships with tenants, showing respect for their feelings and needs
Work with tenants to engage in relevant sector agencies / programs
Work with tenants to build positive peer and adult relationships by assisting them to attend appointments and programs held in and out of Woree Supported Accommodation
Contribute to the effective functioning and development of the service through involvement in culturally appropriate projects, contribution to team forums, and training and development of staff
Complete a range of administrative duties for the efficient running of the service including; updating tenant records, reports, referral letters, goals plans etc.
Requirements for Success
Demonstrated ability to build strong and trusting relationships with tenants
Possess positive social and communication skills
Experience working with the Indigenous community
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and their cultures and a general understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary Australia
Must hold a Working With Children Check or willingness to apply
Must hold a current valid drivers licence
Willingness to provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccinations
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
