We are looking for energetic and vibrant, experienced mental health Disability Support Workers to assist multiple clients with self-care activities, community access and respite on the north side of Brisbane in the Moreton Bay region.

THE ROLE
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide active supports to a range of children, teens and adults, within their home and in the community, developing skills, independence, and friendships.
You will be supporting and encouraging participants in various day-to-day activities based on their hobbies, interests and goals set out within their NDIS support plans. These may include:
- Personal activities and daily tasks such as personal care, dressing, medication, cooking meals and domestic duties; as well as
- Community activities and engagement such as supported shopping, medical appointments, together with sporting and recreational activities including fishing and 4wding, social activities, horse riding, arts, crafts and painting and all sorts of other fun.
The role is initially casual with the potential opportunity to go permanent. Regular Community Access & SIL shifts available. You must be able to work at least 20+ hours/week.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in the role, you will be passionate about bringing your best self to work, vibrant, caring reliable and looking to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
You will have:
- A positive attitude with high energy levels and the ability to have fun with Participants, tempered with strength and adaptability to deal calmly with challenging situations and complex behaviours with a rational approach;
- The ability to work as part of a team to support Participants achieve their goals;
- Exceptional listening and communication skills, with the ability to recognise and interpret non-verbal cues; and
- A genuine interest in mental health and the disability sector.
You must have:
- Experience supporting participants with psychosocial/mental health disabilities such as ADD, ADHD, OCD, ODD, Autism, PTSD, Bipolar and Schizophrenia
- A minimum of a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or other community service qualifications or experience within the industry (e.g. disability, mental health, community services or youth work etc.);
- Blue card and Yellow card;
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to gain);
- Drivers licence; and
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation module;
