THE ROLE
We are looking for Support Workers whose values align with ours, who are passionate about having a positive impact on people with disabilities and who can provide exceptional care to ensure that the quality of life of people living with disabilities.
As a Support Worker, you will undertake a range of activities such as:
* In-home care: assistance with personal activities and daily tasks such as personal care, dressing, medication, and domestic household duties
* Individual or group activities in the community including shopping, attending medical appointments, social gatherings, sporting and recreational activities. This may include outdoor recreation activities such as fishing and 4wd, travel, and generally building confidence in public and social settings
* Supporting the development of daily living, life and social skills and the provision of physical well-being supports
* Working with the team to identify and prepare goal focussed support plans and independently completing shift paperwork such as progress notes and incident reports.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for caring, people-focused individuals who will work with our team to shape and improve the lives of our participants. To do well in this role, you will have:
* A compassionate, reliable, and proactive approach.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
* Ability to work with participants who have various disabilities, ages and cultural/social backgrounds and support up to three participants at once
* Proven ability to calmly deal with challenging situations and complex behaviours with a rational approach
* Ability to work as part of a team to support participants to identify and achieve their personal and stated goals
* Exceptional listening and communication skills with basic computer skills
* Experience working in the disability sector with children and adults providing in-home and community access support
* A minimum of a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or other community service qualifications OR strong experience within the industry (e.g. disability, mental health, community services or youth work etc.)
* Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation module (or willingness to complete)
* Drivers licence
* Blue card and Yellow card (or willingness to gain)
* Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to gain)
