The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
The Aged Care and Disability Services team aims to provide support services to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50 or living with a significant and/or permanent disability to be more independent and to actively participate in their communities. We have locations across the South East Queensland region including, North Brisbane, South Brisbane, Caboolture, Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Hervey Bay/Maryborough.
About the Role?
As a Community Support Worker in our Zillmere Team, you will be providing domestic and social support to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders eligible aged members. The role will require you to perform in accordance with Client Care plans and the Aged Care Standards. The successful applicant will be joining a diverse support team who thrive in supporting our elders in their homes.
• Assist with general client care, including undertake personal care, domestic assistance, social support, respite, meals and transport activities.
• Encouraging and supporting the independence for our elders to remain in their own home.
• Providing a tailored service to our clients in line with their care plan
About You?
• Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
• Current Criminal History Check
• Reliable vehicle with proof of registration
• Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (willing to obtain)
• Certificate III in Aged Care / Individual Support / Community Care
• Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders especially in a home environment, respecting their traditional culture, values, and personal ways of doing things
Desirable, but not mandatory:
• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
