Job description

Hi, I am a young man, 17 years old, I have just left school and live at home with my parents, my little sister and Grandparents who live in a granny flat behind the house.

I am currently seeking support from a peer who can assist me in discovering what is next. I have many interests: current affairs, football, soccer (Go West Brom!), technology and computers, fishing, camping, 4WDing and card games, to name a few. I am applying to Tafe for a technology-based course to get into Cyber Security. I am currently supported in going 4WD, fishing, and exploring my interests. I am looking for two people to join the team for 5 hours, three days a week, at the moment, on Tuesday, Thu, and Sunday. There is more to explore. Eventually, I may also need some support with my personal care.

I am looking for someone young with similar interests to spend quality time exploring

my interests and supporting me in discovering a valorising life out of school.

Because of my hearing, I need you to have a clear voice and a proactive attitude to suit my support needs. You would need to be able to navigate things like online applications, applying for work, checking in with me and motivating me.

From developing Friedreich’s Ataxia, I have been adapting to using a wheelchair. I have found there are a lot of barriers for people who use wheelchairs, so I am seeking someone who can support my mobility needs and be able to advocate for me as we access the community.

Essential Qualities and Experience.

  • Minimum Cert III in Individual Support, Disability or a related Field
  • Prior Experience in a mentor capacity.
  • Experience Working 1:1 with people with disabilities who may present with Challenging Behaviours
  • A valid Australian Driver’s License
  • A reliable vehicle with comprehensive Insurance
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Values that align with One2One
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a creative, innovative mindset
  • Flexible availability to work a range of shifts during the week, overnight an occasional weekend.
