I am a 60-year-old man transitioning through life with Dementia. I am seeking a team of experienced and mature Support Workers to support me through my daily life, including personal care, appointments, activities, and community access. A recent fall has seen the need for higher-intensity support in my life.
I am a proud man who values family connections above all else. I take a keen interest in my appearance and enjoy being always presentable. In my younger years, I owned my own trade business, and my work was extremely important to me. I worked with my hands, kept active and supported my family independently, which is something I took pride in. I boxed and enjoyed the occasional horse race. I hold traditional values and enjoy a good laugh with the blokes.
I connect best with people with thick skin and a wicked sense of humour. I am never keen on being told what to do and can appreciate when people around me can understand the difficulty of my decline in independence. I am seeking a team with patience, a team that will keep my spirits high and support me in engaging in my interests. I enjoy a laugh and engage best when people understand who I am and where I came from. I am a down-to-earth, blokey bloke, and I respect people from all walks of life. I am always keen on hearing other people’s stories.
Experience in working with people with Dementia, alongside PBS and Dysphagia is highly desirable. I am seeking individuals to support me over 24 hours shifts and visiting hourly supports for transfers and personal care.
