AQA was established in 1987 by a group of people with quadriplegia who saw a need for improved access to information, support and employment opportunities for people living with spinal cord injury. Today, AQA has grown into a strong and diverse community. We support each other to live full and enriching lives by sharing our knowledge and lived experience of a range of complex physical disabilities, through our services our resources, and our relationships.

Support Workers at AQA
Empower clients in their own homes to be independent and participate fully in life and in their community.
Support clients to live their best lives and achieve their goals and aspirations by providing physical and emotional support that, in turn, enhances their participation and contribution in the community.
On a day-to-day basis, a support worker’s role can include:
Personal care (showering, toileting, manual transfers, etc)
Administering medications
Providing support with High Intensity Supports (Bowel Care, Urinary and Catheter care)
Domestic support (laundry, light cleaning, etc.)
Social support (companionship)
Community access
About You
Preferably has Experience in Age-care/Disability and supporting clients with personal care, bowel care and manual hoist.
Essential Criteria
A deep commitment to the reliable provision of respectful care and support.
A sophisticated understanding of professional boundaries and safety.
A current NDIS Worker Clearance
A Working with Children’s Check
Evidence of rights to work in Australia
Evidence of three COVID vaccines
Current First Aid certification
Current CPR certification
A sound level of digital literacy and a willingness to learn
