We have a generous holiday package; plus the opportunity to buy more, great pension schemes and a number of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.Closing Date: 28th June 2024The RoleThe Sustainability Team lead on embedding sustainability throughout University activity; working with colleagues, students, and partners to deliver transformational change towards the University’s sustainability commitments and target for net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2030.We are looking for either a current undergraduate who is taking a placement year, or a student who is graduating in 2024 from an undergraduate programme to join our Sustainability Team. Your brief is to support us in raising awareness of action sustainability action and tackling the climate emergency at Newcastle University, supporting our community to make a positive change.This role provides the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of embedding sustainability within a large, complex organisation. Taking action on the climate and ecological crises requires collective work throughout our communities towards positive change and, increasingly, employers are looking to bring people into their organisations with the ability to enable that change. The role will provide first-hand insight into the work of embedding sustainability throughout Newcastle University and the opportunity for you to make your mark and have an impact on this work. - Create engaging and informative content for our internal and external websites and help us to improve user experience
- Produce regular blog posts and newsletter articles on sustainability-related projects and initiatives
- Design physical and digital marketing assets in line with the University’s brand
- Support the planning and delivery of online and in-person events including, for example, room bookings, ordering catering and production of promotional materials
- Manage the Sustainable Campus email inbox (the main point of contact for the Sustainability Team)
- Assist team members with their work tasks and projects where needed
- Passion for sustainability and driven towards embedding positive change within the University
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor content to an audience
- Customer-focused and highly motivated
- Experience of developing marketing materials
- Good organisational skills
- Able to work under own initiative as well as part of a team
- Creative with an eye for detail
- Familiar with graphic design software (e.g. adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign or similar)
- Familiar with Microsoft Office, including Excel
