Role reports into the Head of Procurement, Finance
Sustainable procurement is an essential mechanism to achieving our firm's environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments and priorities. It also serves as a critical enabler to PwC's purpose to build trust in society and solve important problems.
Our PwC Procurement team embeds a shared focus on economic, environmental and social contributions within a framework of good governance and proactive supplier engagement. We develop and drive our firm's Sustainable Procurement (SP) strategy including all procurement related environmental, social and governance (ESG) ambitions, commitments and targets, blending technical skills and strategy to advise our internal functions and teams with spectacular results. And we're looking for a leader to take our team to the next level, as we raise awareness of our firm-wide sustainability strategy and encourage positive steps towards strengthening the overall value chain within our vast community of solvers.
Use the know-how you've gained in procurement, specifically in the context of Sustainable Procurement including environmental, social and ethical considerations to grow our PwC procurement team. With new problems to solve, you'll have plenty of opportunities to create change. We work from anywhere, so your strong communication skills and team leadership abilities will get a workout. As a leader in the PwC procurement team, you'll make a real impact in a workplace that's human-led and tech-enabled.
As an expert in Sustainable Procurement, you'll lead a team solving by developing and executing a SP strategy and scorecard aligned with our firm-wide sustainability strategy. In our procurement team, you'll also:
- Lead coordination/collaboration efforts within procurement and with internal partners to ensure that our firm's SP related ambitions, commitments and targets are realised in an effective and efficient manner
- Lead engagement with suppliers and internal partners regarding commercial initiatives that impact, or are impacted by, priority issues and targets
- Facilitate supplier initiatives (e.g. RFx) and consulting relevant internal partners prior to finalising recommendations in connection with priority issues and targets
- Implement ongoing governance and reporting framework with progress against SP strategy and scorecard
- Provide SP data and insights periodically (e.g. quarterly) or as required by firm, network or regulatory reporting obligations, including but not limited to: net zero, modern slavery, reconciliation action plan and transparency reporting
- Collaborate and leveraging best practice across PwC network and identifying ongoing strategic SP opportunities (and risks)
This role is for a parental leave cover.
Core qualification and Technical expertise
- Excellent knowledge of procurement and commercial negotiation techniques
- Strong understanding and interest in ESG issues
- Ability to understand the commercial and technical needs of Internal Partners
- Endurance and perseverance to find the most effective and efficient solutions
- Ability to balance the firm's commercial interests with its ESG ambition, commitments and targets
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to lead, influence and engage various Internal Partners and suppliers in order to drive and deliver on SP ambition, commitments and targets
- Wider procurement experience gained from either client, contractor or consulting organisation
- Experience of embedding Sustainable Procurement into procurement operations, ideally within Consulting or a major corporate
- Experience and knowledge of the key responsible sourcing issue areas; human rights, the environment, health and safety, anti-bribery & corruption, labour practices and other socio-economic impacts
