At Home Affairs we know our success depends on IT systems that help us provide services to over 30 Departmental initiatives. We are seeking an experienced systems administrator who's eager to assist us to achieve successful service delivery and further develop technological skills in this fast paced environment.

Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will identify improvements and contribute to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for testing while also:
- Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including applications, servers, laptops, desk tops, software and hardware.
- Take responsibility for projects and solutions within the larger business initiative
- Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide commercial advantage
- Enable faster and smarter business processes, and develop analytics for meaningful insights
- Perform server administration tasks, review event logs, monitor and respond to issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain applications and supporting infrastructure when required
- Assist other teams with troubleshooting to identify root-cause, provide technical support when needed
- Perform routine and scheduled audits, back-ups, patching, and upgrades and remediate vulnerabilities.
Additional information
It is expected that a System Administrator Manager would have the following:
- Extensive proven success in a System Administrator management role
- Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, systems performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualisation, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching
- Experience in project management, application design and integration, and cloud computing (specifically Microsoft Azure)
- Expertise in analysing and repairing large-scale distributed systems; creating volumes and assigning them to servers; and remote replication
