We currently have the opportunity for an ITDS Systems Engineer to join the Professional Services team in a 6-month contract role, reporting to the ITDS Portfolio Delivery Manager. This role will be responsible for building, testing, and deploying applications and associated infrastructure to satisfy UTS College project and business objectives as tasked by the Project Teams & prioritised Business Requests.
About the Role
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring infrastructure and associated applications assigned to the Systems Engineer meet service levels as agreed with ITDS Operations Manager
- Work with key stakeholders to identify improvements to both the infrastructure and support processes to continually make them more effective and efficient.
- Work with other staff to develop the infrastructure so that it continues to meet business user requirements.
- Support the provision of information and communication technology infrastructure, which enables UTS College to meet SLAs.
- Provide technical support to users in relation to applications and a wide variety of hardware and cloud-based solutions.
- Interpret requirements of non-technical users to provide support and determine user requirements of new systems as well as communicate information to users in non-technical terms.
- Provide essential systems operations, security and administration including, ensuring the provision of a high standard of customer service.
- Evaluate the suitability of existing packages in meeting system's requirements, undertake enhancements and modifications to existing systems in accordance with rigorous change management processes.
- Remain up to date with new technologies.
About You
To succeed in this role our ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 3 years’ operating in technical support roles including deep expertise in two or more of the following areas.
- Server and storage administration and support
- Cloud technology administration and support (PaaS, IaaS)
- Network support and maintenance (inc wifi)
- IT Security operations
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes and practices
- Experience working with DevOps automation tools when provisioning applications and infrastructure environments. (Desirable)
- Experience in the Higher Education Sector (Desirable)
- ITIL Accreditation. (Desirable)
- Knowledge of Organisation Change Management approaches such as ADKAR (Desirable)
- Knowledge and experience in the application of any of the following best practice methodologies (PRINCE2, Agile, TOGAF). (Desirable)
