Remuneration Benefits include:
- Base Salary with allowances $92,000–$125,000

Mawarnkarra (MHS) is the largest primary health care provider providing direct services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Roebourne area. MHS provides the families of Roebourne with a fully functional and accredited Clinic that treats approximately 3,000 people per year.

Mawarnkarra Health Service is a community controlled Aboriginal health service providing access to and delivering quality medical services to improve the physical, spiritual, cultural social and emotional well- being of the families of the Roebourne area which is situated within the city of Karratha.
The Pilbara is home to several beautiful beaches with opportunities for diving and snorkelling. Within just a few hours' drive are the world heritage listed sites of Karijini National Park. There are regular community events such as the Dampier Markets, horse racing and the recent development of the Karratha Art's Precinct has opened the region up to more artistic pursuits including exhibitions, dance and theatre performances.
The Position
The role of the Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Project Specialist is to oversee the Pilbara Tackling Indigenous Smoking Program (PTIS) across IREG506. This role focuses on successful delivery of activities, compliance to program guidelines and reporting activities that support TIS in the region. The activities are delivered by the teams at Mawarnkarra Health Service, Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service, Wirraka Maya Health Service (ACCHOs). Where activities are located outside the 3 ACCHO service areas, these activities are coordinated by the Project Specialist. TIS teams report to the Program Manager at each ACCHO, the Project Specialist works with TIS teams and their manager to ensure active and effective delivery of TIS activities. The PTIS Program Specialist will connect activities across IREG506 and ensure 100% of Indigenous Locations (ILOCS) are included in the PTIS program.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND AITRIBUTES
- A qualification in Community Services/Community Development or equivalent is essential
- Passionate about reducing smoking within the community
- Demonstrated ability to lead a program undertaken by teams, who do not report directly to you and are working in different locations.
- Demonstrated experience in meeting program/project objectives with success
- Demonstrated ability to develop an activity work plan, monitor that plan and ensure compliance to the plan
- Ability to design, implement and monitor programs including identifying and evaluating key performance indicators
- An ability to establish a system for measuring the program outcomes against contractual objectives.
- Ability to report program objectives that represent activity across the Pilbara region
- Ability to receive direction from their line manager (Program Manager) and to work collaboratively with other Program Managers from different organsiations
- Demonstrated skill in managing team members across multiple locations
- Ability to conduct outreach activities across Pilbara region
- Ability to learn with a desire to make a difference
- Motivation to provide service excellence
- Good oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent reporting writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve issues on a day to day basis
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
- Experience in the application of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and other relevant human resource management laws
- Ability to discuss and explain complex issues and willingness to communicate in an open and transparent work environment
- Commitment to ongoing participation in education, professional development, evidencebased research and quality assurance
