Position: Tax Accountant
Location: Bella Vista
Tasks & Responsibilities:
As a Tax Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and SMSFs.
- Preparation of monthly IAS, annual/quarterly BAS, TPAR, along with bookkeeping, payroll, and superannuation tasks for clients.
- Mentoring, training, and reviewing the work performed by junior accountants in a dynamic team of 4.
- Providing ad-hoc general tax advice to existing clients, including structuring, tax compliance, and bookkeeping guidance.
- Liaising with ATO, ASIC, financial institutions for lending/financing, and other professionals as required by client needs.
Qualifications & Experience
Must Have:
- Xero Software expertise, including Xero HQ, Xero Practice Manager, and Xero Tax (our firm is a Xero-based practice)
- Must have strong knowledge and skill in SMSF compliance and be proficient in BGL software (this role will be looking after a large number of SMSF compliance)
- Proficiency with Handisoft Taxation Software (we are still transitioning legacy clients to Xero)
- CA, CPA, or IPA qualification or in-progress
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the public practice
- Strong time management skills
- Keen attention to detail and advanced computer skills
- Knowledge and experience in Xero and XPM
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both
Preferred to Have:
- A team-player mindset with strong communication skills, capable of working autonomously
- Experience in training and mentoring junior staff members
- A knack for building positive client relationships
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to thrive both in a team-oriented environment and when working autonomously
- A sharp mind for problem-solving
