We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated School Officer, who loves spending time with dogs and would like to be trained as an assistance dog handler, to join our school. The successful applicant will work closely with the classroom teacher supporting the education of students and assisting them to maximise their learning potential, while supporting the integration of an assistance dog to support one of our students.Duties
general classroom support
preparation of resources and clearing learning materials
using technology to support learning activities
administrative duties such as photocopying and filing
handling (after completing school required training) student assistance dog
Skills & Experience
proven communication and interpersonal skills
an understanding of the workings of a classroom
a willingness to work as part of a team
a willingness to work with and have a love of dogs
a willingness to participate in the necessary training to become a qualified handler of a student assistance dog
previous experience with dog handling would be highly regarded
You will also demonstrate an ability and initiative to apply your skills in supporting students to achieve successful learning outcomes. Qualifications
Ideally you will have previous experience as a Teacher Aide and/or hold a minimum Cert 3 in Educational Support.
