Eastern Hills Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Education Support Teacher to join their team.
As an Education Support Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in providing quality education to students with diverse learning needs. Development and implementation of Individualised Education Programs (IEPs) and Individual Transition Programs (ITPs) for students, as well as providing support and accommodations to help them succeed academically and socially is an integral part of this role. Experience in supporting students with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), physical disabilities and mental health conditions will be highly regarded, as will evidence based and trauma informed practices.
The successful applicant should be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as exhibit an engaging and energetic teaching style. Applicants who can adopt inclusive and restorative practices, and build positive relationships with students, staff and the community, are encouraged to apply. The ability to establish and maintain effective communication with parents and caregivers is highly desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
