Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/TCH888606

Appointment Pool

Jilbup Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Teachers for appointments in its Specialised Learning Program for Children with Autism to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

Suitable applicants will provide dedicated and progressive teaching to deliver specialised learning programs to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to access mainstream education. Teachers will ideally adopt evidence-based practice and pedagogy to meet the needs of students with ASD. Knowledge of, and the ability to apply Western Australian curriculum would be highly desirable. As a member of our team, you may, over time, move between the specific roles within the Specialised Learning Program (SLP) for Students with ASD and mainstream classroom teaching roles.

In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to provide innovative and engaging lessons for our students, contribute to their sense of belonging and overall wellbeing within a very supportive mainstream public primary school. Suitable applicants will develop highly personalised learning plans to facilitate access to age-appropriate curriculum and apply evidence-based individualised education interventions to improve academic engagement, organisational skills, social thinking, peer relationships and self-regulation skills, while case managing students to best support their family. Our Program Coordinator and the SLP - ASD team provide mentoring, intensive support and state of the art professional learning for staff, so that we can continue to significantly improve all aspects of the learning environment for our students.

Suitable applicants will ideally be highly motivated, student and relationship focused and dedicated to improving the outcomes of all students. The ability to utilise outstanding communication skills and strong leadership within the classroom to create an environment in which high functioning students with ASD can thrive within a supportive mainstream setting, would be highly advantageous to this role. Applicants should possess current knowledge of autism and relevant experience to successfully apply these principles in this teaching role. Experience in an Education Support context is desirable.

Jilbup PS follows the Science of Learning and Reading principles. We explicitly teach skills and content to mastery so children can apply their knowledge to deep learning. We want our children to love coming to school, our teachers to love their students and our community to love our school.
