This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024

Halls Head College are seeking teachers who are able to utilise highly effective teaching practices and have a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice. The successful applicant should possess excellent interpersonal skills and be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

An excellent knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and a capacity to deliver content in an engaging manner to instil our students with a passion for the humanities is highly sought after. The ability to work well with your colleagues to develop teaching strategies and approaches to ensure each student can reach their maximum potential is highly desirable. Applicants who are able to successfully deliver Senior School courses, both Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General, offered by the College would be highly desirable. Graduates are also encouraged to apply. We seek passionate and motivated teachers who can extend, adjust and accommodate student needs accordingly to maximise progress in Humanities and Social Science (HASS)

Halls Head College is uniquely situated on the 'island' of Halls Head just south of Mandurah. The local intake area of Halls Head College is south, close to the Waroona Shire boundary. The contributory primary schools are Glencoe, Halls Head, Falcon, South Halls Head and Ocean Road. The College provides a secondary education for students who live in the rapidly growing coastal strip, south of Mandurah.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
