Joseph Banks SC is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. The successful applicant should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their understanding and appreciation of Mathematics.
The successful applicant will ideally have high expectations, display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment. You will also ideally be able to display an ability to work as a collaborative team member and you will be committed to the development of strong professional learning communities focussed on student achievement and success. You should be able to display an ability to assist the school in achieving a "culture of curiosity".
As a Mathematics Teacher you should participate as an integral member of the Mathematics learning area and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your delivery. As such, the successful applicant will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be well regarded as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.
The successful applicant will also ideally be dedicated and a highly motivated educator with an excellent knowledge of the Senior School Western Australian Curriculum, be able to deliver content in an engaging manner and be a highly effective team member. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of one or more Senior Secondary courses is highly desirable. As a reflective practitioner, you will ideally possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs. The successful applicant should also have a strong working knowledge of teaching strategies to support development and strong performance in National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy and the Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment. Strong knowledge and skills in the effective integration of innovative and engaging Information Communications and Technologies and cooperative learning instructional strategies is highly desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
