Job Description
The School is seeking an energetic teacher who places student learning and well-being at the forefront of all they do and possesses a great interest in and understanding of middle and senior years education. The successful candidate will be an innovative English Teacher who has experience in developing and delivering engaging curriculum that meets the individual needs and interests of students in Years 7 to 12. The ability to utilise and integrate technology to complement student learning is essential.
The successful candidate will be passionate about the subject area of English, committed to the pastoral care of students and excited to be involved in our significant co-curricular program. The School has a very strong team ethos, with all staff sharing in the development of curriculum and working together to provide strong academic and pastoral support for students. The position will appeal to an educator who values excellence and is willing to be innovative in their classroom practice.
This is a full-time permanent position commencing as early as possible in Term 2 or at the start of Term 3.
Selection Criteria
The successful incumbent must:
- Have a working knowledge/understanding of current curriculum and a passion for relevant subject content.
- Have a thorough understanding of program requirements and curriculum planning for children in years 7 to 12 (including those with special needs).
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of current educational issues.
- Be willing to engage in pastoral care of students, have a role on our cocurricular program, undertake regular professional development and take part in ongoing performance reviews.
- Demonstrate outstanding behavioural guidance strategies and techniques to support students.
- Have the ability to modify instructions to cater for the individual learning needs of students.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills including team building and mentoring to engage students and with families.
- Be a committed, enthusiastic and innovative member of staff.
- Possess highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Teacher of English.
- Relevant teaching qualification in the area of English.
- Hold current Working with Children Check.
- Hold a current TRBWA registration.
- Have the right to work in Australia.
