Appointment Pool

Hawker Park Primary School is seeking to establish a pool of Teacher - Primary for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 and 2025 school years. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 and 2025 school years.

Hawker Park PS has a Bring Your Own 1:1 Apple laptop programme for Years 4 to 6 and school supplied iPads for Pre-Primary to Year 3. It is ideal that teachers will be able to work with these devices and utilise Office 365 and Connect to present students with differentiated lessons. Across the school, we have flexible learning environments and applicants are expected to be able to work within such environments.

Our school has a genuine, empowered and collaborative staff, committed to agreed whole school approaches and values. Therefore, applicants with knowledge and experience in the following will be highly regarded: Philosophy within the classroom, PLD Spelling, Big Write, Vocabulary Connectives Openers and Punctuation (VCOP), Primary Connections Science, knowledge of neurodiversity and Gifted and Talented strategies. The school also has a very hands-on approach to Numeracy and has worked with Dr Paul Swan to establish good classroom practice. Integration of technology into classroom practice as well as knowledge of the National Quality Standard, play based and activity-based learning are also attributes expected of all of our teachers so as to allow flexibility in teacher placement across the school.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
