Flinders Park Primary School (PS) is seeking a passionate, motivated and skilled Primary - Arts Teacher to join our friendly team.
About the role
The successful applicant would be a skilled practitioner in the field of visual arts - ably managing the complexities of a specialist role through consistent, predictable routines within a dynamic and inquisitive curriculum delivery model. It is an expectation that our Primary - Arts specialist works with classroom teachers and other members of our team to build relationships with students, meeting the unique needs of each individual in their learning. It is expected that the Primary-Arts specialist works to successfully have student work included in community arts opportunities, such as the Southern Arts Trail.
The successful applicant will ideally be passionate, motivated and skilled educators who is committed to integrating literacy and numeracy outcomes within the Visual Arts program. It is highly regarded that applicants are committed to developing positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community.
We are ideally seeking applicants who are innovative and possess high quality teaching skills and knowledge. Applicants should ideally possess a strong capacity to plan engaging programs that cater for the educational needs of all students, using an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum. Applicants should also be able to display an understanding of the health and safety requirements needed when planning visual arts lessons. The successful applicant should be committed to ongoing professional growth and development and effective collaboration with colleagues based on data analysis and effective pedagogy.
About the school
Flinders Park PS is located in the City of Albany, 400 kilometres south of Perth. The school opened in 1978 and caters for student from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school's local intake area is extensive; covering approximately 150 KM. The school presents as a vibrant learning place, set amongst well-presented grounds and maintained buildings. The school community is active and valued within the school. The school has high expectations for student behaviour and developing harmonious relationships and values implicit in the 'Flinders Student' ethos.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.
