Welcome to Tagai State College
Tagai State College is located in the Torres Strait and is comprised of 16 Primary campuses, a Secondary campus and a TAFE campus. The College also has a Special Education Unit (Malu Os) that provides an outreach service to all campuses spread across the islands of the Torres Strait covering an area of 48,000 square kilometres of ocean. This unique context requires a skilled District Relieving Teacher to support the teams across the campuses. Based on Horn Island, the position will require outer island travel in light aircraft. Accommodation (while relieving away from Horn) is supplied by the College on campus and may extend over a number of weeks depending on the duration of the vacancy.
The successful applicant will need to have a strong ability to quickly connect and build rapport with students and be familiar with Explicit Instruction which is the signature pedagogy of the College. All teaching staff are supported by Heads of Campus and the Teaching and Learning team based on Horn Island.
