This is a nine (9) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024 with possible (12 month) extension and/or permanency.

Eastern Goldfields College is seeking a Visual Arts Teacher to join their high-quality regional school.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Eastern Goldfields College in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross - to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

About the role

If you are a Teacher passionate about your subject area and creating exciting learning experiences for your students, we welcome your interest in this position.

The successful applicant will ideally have a strong secondary teaching background with teaching in Year 11 and Year 12 highly regarded but not essential. We are seeking Teachers who use a range of pedagogies and a flexible and adaptive approach to applying the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. You will have an ability to empower your students to take charge of their learning and build engagement in their education and employment pathways.

The successful applicant will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school's values, ethos and priorities across the school community. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues and build positive relationships with your students. As a teacher within our school your expertise and endearing personal attributes will contribute to establishing and maintaining a positive classroom learning environment.

Eastern Goldfields College is located in Kalgoorlie, which is situated 590 kilometres inland of Perth. The name Kalgoorlie is derived from the Wangai word Karlkurla, meaning "Place of the silky pears".

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
