Position Information
Richmond High School is a member of the Richmond Agricultural Collegiate along with a Centre of Excellence in Ag-STEM Education. Richmond High School provides quality educational opportunities to a Local Enrolment stream, a Support Class stream, an Ag-STEM Specialty stream (from 2021) and an Ag-STEM Selective stream (from 2022).
Approximately 700 students are enrolled, this includes 43 students in the support unit, with 14% of our student body identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Our school will grow in coming years to approximately 1000 students. Richmond High school is committed to excellence in teaching and learning where all students can improve and succeed. The staff are committed to quality teaching, innovation and maintaining a caring, supportive learning environment through the Positive Behaviour for Learning program.
The focus on Literacy, Numeracy, the use of technology in learning and a transdisciplinary approach to learning is providing a strong basis for current professional learning. A learning and wellbeing hub with an expert staff provides personalised learning support for students of all ability levels. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum, including a full range of academic core, Ag-STEM, Applied Learning, elective and vocational courses. Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience in teaching students with Emotional Disturbances with a focus on trauma informed practice.
- Demonstrated effective classroom management skills to promote an inclusive and positive learning environment with differentiated, multi-stage programs.
- Demonstrated effective communication and organisational skills with the capacity to develop positive relationships to establish effective partnerships with parents, community, support agencies and colleagues to collaboratively achieve improved learning outcomes for students.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the capacity and willingness to contribute to whole school and extracurricular programs including Aboriginal Education.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
