NPY Women's Council was started by the Anangu women in 1980 and continues to be governed by the women from the NPY lands. At its core NPY Women's Council is about family and community - Walytja. Their purpose is to work with women, children and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara region in central Australia. About the Role:
NPY Women's Council are seeking a Team Leader to support eight case managers and project officers working across nine communities in Central Australia. You will lead the Walytjapiti team in developing and delivering services that are strength based and trauma informed, and that best meet the needs of vulnerable families living in the NPY region. This role requires occasional outreach to remote communities in NPY lands.
Key duties:
- Provide leadership, supervision and support to the team, including; practice leadership, case consultation and review, professional development, and staff wellbeing.
- Assess referrals, liaise with referring bodies and allocate families to Family Support Workers.
- Participate in program development, implementation, evaluation, and advocacy.
- Actively participate in the recruitment, training, and ongoing mentorship of staff.
- Develop and maintain partnerships within relevant networks such as Aboriginal Legal Services, Police Services, Child Protection Departments.
- Administer and maintain accurate records, data collections and reports as required by the funding.
- A tertiary or diploma qualification in Social Work, Community Services, or related field.
- Proven leadership skills including supervision of staff.
- Extensive knowledge and professional experience working with children and families, and trauma-informed practice.
- An understanding of the issues that affect the wellbeing of Aboriginal people in remote communities and an ability to work cross-culturally in partnership with Anangu staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a setting where flexibility and occasional travel to remote communities is required.
