Role Summary :

The IOO Reconciliations Team Lead has day-to-day front-line supervisory responsibilities for the IOO Reconciliations team providing services to internal and/or external clients ranging from front office recs all the way to custody and market value reconciliations. Organizes the work of the team, assigns tasks, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work. Possesses the management and organizational skills required to prioritize assignments and provide feedback to staff.

Your focus is on issue resolution and facilitate improvements, and will be analytically and procedurally competent with an understanding of both middle office and custody operations.

What you will do:

  • Define performance standards, conduct performance reviews and handle salary administration.
  • Provide management, leadership and guidance to staff, creates an environment that encourages employee engagement, teamwork, and communication.
  • Recruit, train, mentor and develop team members as well as develop staffing and succession plans.
  • Oversee the delivery of daily functions and tasks in order to meet client Service Level Agreements, and ensure internal and client issues are communicated/escalated in timely manner.
  • Primary owner of the day to day relationship with the offshore services for IOO Reconciliations.
  • Responsible for the delivery and continuous enhancement of IOO Reconciliations, facilitating partners in identifying opportunities for improvement within existing process and/or technology applications.
  • Participant on business and technology enhancement initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate operational controls in order to manage and mitigate risk to Northern Trust.
  • Assisting with build, completion and delivery of monthly internal and client KPIs.
  • Assist Northern Trust project groups as a stakeholder on new business implementations.
  • Ensuring that all correct control procedures are adhered to and a full audit trail is recorded and maintained at all times
  • Provide oversight and support for other Investment Operations partners across a number of areas including FX, Equity, Fixed Income, Unit Registry and Cash.
  • Build working relationships with clients and offshore partners.
  • Serve as a point of escalation and monitor issues log, attend weekly / bi-weekly /monthly issues meeting, work to resolve client servicing issues timely with offshore shared services partners
  • Attend Quarterly Service Reviews, Due Diligence meetings, and other client meetings as required.

About You:

  • Possess excellent oral and written presentation skills
  • Must be resilient to pressure and must have the ability to adapt to change and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced team environment
  • Knowledge of Middle Office operations specifically on trade lifecycle, cash, stock and market value reconciliations between books of record
  • Experience with Global Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Registry/TA and Money Market Asset Classes
  • Previous Financial Industry Operations, Asset Management and/or Investment Operations experience
  • Previous client management and Client Service experience in a service oriented environment
  • Relevant experience within investment management/asset servicing industry with the majority of this working directly in an Investment Operations team
  • Ability to coach and develop team members
  • Critical thinking and ability to challenge status quo

Highly Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the asset servicing industry, acquired through experience in both middle office and custody records is highly regarded for this position
  • Working knowledge of market book of record and reconciliation systems, particularly TLM Premium (SmartStream application)
  • Working knowledge of Fundmaster and other key Northern Trust systems
