We're looking for a Team Leader / Technical Director - Substations to join our Future Energy Group.
Strong growth within our Future Energy business has created an opportunity for an experienced Substation Design Engineer to join a dynamic and professional team. Working closely with key clients, broader Power group and our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide:

• Perform Substation Design for power utility projects including creation of engineering reports, documentation and drawing packages
• Perform QA of Substation Design and engineering, with oversight of design team including engineers and drafters
• Liaise with clients and work to maintain existing client relationships with Power Utilities
• Leading and contributing to the preparation of proposals and bids for projects
• Delivering innovative and robust technical solutions to projects, appropriately involving the power Service Line Leaders/Coordinators
• Providing high level technical support and provide mentoring of mid level and junior staff
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, GHD's Project Directors and Project Managers
• Coordinating and leading the transmission engineering component of multidiscipline power projects across Australia

What you will bring to the team:

• Bachelor degree in Engineering (ideally CPEng or actively working towards obtainment)
• Minimum 15 years industry experience (consulting environment or power utility preferable), with experience with substation primary and secondary systems 11kV to 330kV
• Demonstrated professional judgement and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating and solving problems to brief and budget
• Understanding of the Australian Standards relating to HV Substation Design, including Civil and Structural requirements
• Experience working with Power Utilities; such as working for Western Power or on Western Power projects would be advantageous
• Knowledge of protection schemes and IEC61850, as well as primary plant technologies and equipment
• Knowledge of substation construction & commissioning methodologies
• Experience in substation earthing systems design, substation lightning protection, transformers, busbars, switchgear, etc
• Experience in the use of earthing modelling tools (CDEGS) will be an advantage
