We are seeking a highly skilled team manager with excellent people and task management skills to manage and motivate a team of coaches to achieve Emily’s goals to live independently in the future, to have access to short term accommodation to prepare her for when she leaves home, to maintain her current lifestyle and improve her health and well-being with access to supports as neededand to enable her mother to step back from the daily coordination role into an oversight role.
About Emily
Emily is a 28-year-old woman who is a passionate cat owner, market stall holder, karaoke singer, performing artist, landscaping machinery enthusiast and ten pin bowler.
Emily requires 24/7 support and coaching to perform these roles.
About Jem-J Pty Ltd
You will be employed directly by Jem-J Pty Ltd, a family owned and governed disability support service that provides services only to Emily and her brother Jeremy.

You will report to Emily and Jeremy’s mother who is an unpaid director of the company. Jem-J Pty Ltd partners with Good Directions who provides us with support to be a well-run, compliant organisation.
Your Role
The Team Leader is responsible for leading, motivating and coordinating Emily’s team to achieve their goals around work, independence, decision making and self-care.
As the Team Leader you will be required to:
- Create plans for achieving goals by breaking them down into steps and tasks
- Delegate and coordinate team member tasks
- Be the first point of contact for any queries or concerns
- Produce the staff roster, check timesheets, run payroll operations, and ensure WH&S compliance
- Conduct performance reviews, performance management initiatives (where required), staff training, onboarding and offboarding processes
- Lead the coordination of Emily’s market vendor role
- Write reports on the progress being made towards achieving goals
- Regularly review shift reports to identify patterns, trends, quality of handover, compliance issues, staff development opportunities, etc
- Implement allied health strategies provided by health professionals
- Provide direct support to Emily coaching her in her roles
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who is:
- Highly experienced in team management
- Highly skilled at coaching and mentoring in skill development
- Highly skilled at breaking down goals into tasks, delegating, coordinating, and motivating a team to achieve them
- Excellent team builder and people manager
- Adaptable, patient, and open to feedback
- Highly confident communicator
- Able to embrace the resistant behaviours that may initially be present when introducing new skills and respect the family’s proven approaches on how to best support Emily
- Strong administration and computer skills
- Able to pro-actively initiate difficult performance management conversations when required
Qualifications and experience
- At least 2 years’ experience in successfully managing a team of supports
- At least 5 years’ experience working as a support worker
- Cert III in disability support or above
- Management qualifications would be advantageous
- Unrestricted drivers’ licence and suitable personal vehicle that is comprehensively insured
- Appropriate working rights in Australia
- NDIS worker screening check
- Current first aid and CPR certification

- Base rate of pay $42.79 + penalty rates, allowances, and superannuation
