We have an opportunity for a Team Leader, Compliance and Investigation to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.
The Team Leader, Compliance and Investigation contributes to the goals and objectives of the Fruit Fly Emergency Response Program by providing support to the Manager, Compliance and Investigation in running investigations and supporting the Operations team in undertaking their duties under the Plant Health Act 2009. This includes close interaction with the Response’s Market Access and Operations teams which are currently located in the SA Riverland.
The Team Leader will respond to a broad range of complex complaints and reports, concerning alleged breaches of the Biosecurity legislation under instruction from the Manager and taking enforcement action where required. The incumbent will undertake assessment of the potential breach to determine the direction and character of actions to be taken. Working within this context the position is also responsible for the interpretation of the Plant Health Act, 2009, making applications for warrants, and for the submission of briefs of evidence to the Crown Solicitor for consideration of the breach's prosecution potential or merit.
Investigations delivered by the incumbent may involve significant interagency collaboration, necessitating considerable communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain critical relationships and networks across a broad stakeholder base.

Special Conditions

• Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
• Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).

Requirements

• Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
• Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
• You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations.
• Preparedness to undertake training and participation in emergency management activities.
• The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

Remuneration
OPS5 - $80,877 min - $86,461 max per annum, plus superannuation
