Team Leader-Dba Database & Application Support

What success looks like in this role:

Summary

• Manage and lead a small team of Database and Application Engineers, provide technical leadership, manage incidents and problems.
• Provide regular coaching and mentoring, setting objectives and conducting performance reviews.
• Manage day to day incidents, requests and reporting, managing prioritization and escalations and ensure items are resolved within SLAs.
• Manage database and application platforms, ensure robust proactive monitoring and alerting is in place and ongoing operational security, stability and performance in maintained.
• Proactively contribute to and drive enhancements, innovation and automation
• Ensure regular system, database and application upgrades to maintain compliance and security obligations.
• Provide technical expertise, guidance and direction for ongoing development and management, ensuring best practices are followed and maintained.
• Ensure technical documentation is updated and maintained to a high standard
• Develop and maintain relations with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Completion of allocated project work within agreed timeframes.
• Review and enhance regular automation processes and procedures.
• Development of high-quality database solutions that are secure, efficient and resilient.
• Analyze existing queries and identify performance improvement opportunities.
• Perform application deployment releases into UAT and Production environments.

Job Description

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• 3-5 years’ experience working in a similar role in a Mid-Large corporate environment.
• 10+years of expertise in Microsoft SQL Operational Management and Development, certified SME.
• Must have a good understanding of SQL ETL and OLAP with at least 3+ years in this domain.
• Proven experience with application development and strong scripting capabilities.
• Experience leading a small team of engineers, managing operational stability and deliverables and successfully driving outcomes.
• Proven experience- enhancing database platform stability, security and automation capabilities.
• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills in SQL-Microsoft SQL 2008to SQL 2022 , SSRS – reporting service, SSIS – Integration services.
• Experience with application development and support preferably.NET or Java, solid understanding of SDLC and associated tooling and processes.
• Developing SQL scripts, programs, databases
• Experience with developing complex PowerShell scripts.
• Microsoft Reporting tools e.g, Tableau, Power BI
• Good knowledge of HTML and JavaScript
• Good understanding and working experience with Active Directory
• Working with Jira, Confluence in agile project delivery • Be keen to learn and committed to expand skills in a variety of SQL databases such as Progress beyond Microsoft SQL.
• Experience with developing custom monitoring and alerting with aggregator tools such as SEQ
• Being in the financial services industry, adherence to our security and compliance procedures including timely completion of all required training is critical.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level of industry experience.
