Kernow has been at the forefront of the Environmental Health industry in Victoria for more than 28 years. With more than 50 Environmental Health Professionals across metro and rural councils plus a large immunisation team and support personnel, our staff have significant expertise and are respected leaders in the field. We have long standing relationships with a number of large and small councils in metro and rural Victoria and provide short-term contracting solutions to various other councils within Victoria.
The Role
This Leadership Role is responsible for the Environmental Health teams at Moyne, Ararat and Pyrenees Shires. This role would suit an experienced Environmental Health Leader interested in a tree change within some of Victoria’s most idyllic regional locations.
The Team Leader role is based in picturesque Port Fairy. The role has operational responsibilities in respect of Moyne Shire and provides managerial oversight of the Ararat and Pyrenees teams (people management of 2 EHOs). The role is responsible for building culture and developing talent within the teams. Part of a network of professional and experienced Environmental Professionals, you will be part of Kernow’s Leadership team and work close with Kernow’s Executive Team.
In this role, your core responsibilities will be:
- Working closely with Kernow’s Leadership team to manage the delivery of the Environmental Health Services at Moyne, Ararat and Pyrenees Shires.
- Stakeholder relationships both within Councils and the broader Regional network.
- In conjunction with Kernow’s Leadership team, set strategy and workplans for the teams.
- Develop talent and culture within the teams, including responsibility for performance, development plans and annual performance reviews.
- Help to drive technological innovations.
- Operational responsibilities including Wastewater assessments and on-site inspections in respect of Moyne Shire.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have recent experience as either a Team Leader, Environmental Health or an experienced Environmental Health Officer operating in a local government environment. Ideally you will have prior people leadership experience. Supplementing this experience, you will possess a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) or other relevant tertiary qualification.
You will also have excellent communication and Leadership skills, a demonstrated ability to operate both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment and manage stakeholders. You will be motivated to develop professionally and embrace new technology. You will also hold a valid Australian drivers’ licence.
What we will offer
Kernow will negotiate a generous salary package inclusive of a motor vehicle with the successful candidate.
In addition, we offer a diversity of work and opportunities beyond the average ‘day to day’ work of an EHO. You will also be joining a culture that is committed to investing in staff, offering genuine development opportunities and a team that values collaboration and learning and development.
