Join a local government organisation in Melbourne's west in this Team Leader Freedom of Information contracted position. Initially a two-month role, this role will focus on Administering Council’s functions under the Freedom of Information Act, Privacy and Data Protection Act, and Health Records Act. Respond to requests for access to information, privacy queries, and complaints in line with legislative requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and respond to FOI requests and inquiries, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, internal procedures, and timelines.
- Maintain Council’s FOI Register and statistics, and complete the annual FOI Return to the Department of Justice.
- Assist in preparing information for the FOI Commissioner’s Office regarding reviews of Council’s FOI decisions.
- Implement process changes and professional standards as recommended by the FOI Commissioner’s Office.
- Address privacy requests and inquiries according to legislative requirements and operational standards.
- Investigate alleged privacy breaches and complaints, reporting findings and recommending remedial actions.
- Report complaints, risk assessments, audit findings, and actions to the Privacy Liaison Group.
- Chair Privacy Liaison Group meetings, preparing agendas and minutes.
- Provide annual progress reports to the Executive Team on the Privacy Liaison Group’s risk mitigation action plan.
To be successful you will have;
- Degree in records and information management or related discipline or lesser formal qualification and substantial experience in local government records and information management.
- Demonstrated experience in the administration of FOI and Privacy legislation.
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
