Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for calling and ensuring cattle are on appropriate consumption levels
- Continually monitor pen consumptions
- Monitor MMEF scores and or DM intake
- Ensure bumping and cutting are following target guidelines
- Highlight issues to management
- Responsible for monitoring starter sheets ensuring targets are met and highlighting issue to management
- Ensuring feeding quality
- Even bunk dispersal
- Maintaining bunk hygiene
- Ensuring bunks are cleaned when appropriate
- Ensuring foreign materials are removed from bunks
- Highlighting bunks for replacement
- Monitoring Feed times (start & finish)
- Monitoring mixing quality, ensuring mixing time is ad headed to and mixers are working appropriately
- Efficient load sizes
- Appropriate ingredient inclusion order
- Assisting with the daily supervision, training and coordination of employees in the Feed Team
- Responsible for the general appearance ensuring feed storage areas, feed pads, feed troughs, buildings and sheds are always in a tidy state.
- Ensure all equipment and infrastructure is safe and correctly operating
- Greasing intervals and recording
- Oil changes / gear box maintenance
- Belts and auger operations
- Updates on equipment wear
- Ensure all vehicles are serviced and operating safely
- Cleanliness
- Schedule repairs as required
- Monitor roads and drive ways for required repairs
- Storage container is clean and tidy
- Cleaning in front of feed bunks weekly
- Weekly across yard
- As required after spills
- End of day procedures
- Truck return email
- Monitor pen feeding / missed pens
- Monitor variances both on the load in and feed out
- 20kg limit feeding
- 40kg limit loading
- Council staff on decreasing variances
- Truck load calibrations
- Monthly testing over weighbridge
- Ration Test scheduling
- Ration and ingredient moisture testing
Qualifications & experience:
- Industry understanding of animal health and welfare
- An effective ability to work in a growing team
- Current driver's licence (HR truck would be preferred)
- Strong communication skills
- Strong Team Leadership
