What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader Planning and Performance.
We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled, and client-focused professional with experience working in an environment of corporate reform to grow and lead a high performing team in our Northern Command. While the role is based in Brisbane, there is a requirement to service clients across Queensland, with AFP appointees also being based in Cairns, Gold Coast, Thursday Island and Canberra.
The Planning and PerformanceTeam Leader plays a key role in leading a team to deliver day-to-day Planning and Performance services, portfolio, program and change management and governance and assurance services for the Command/s aligned with the Central Corporate Services Unit (CCSU) service offer.
This role is responsible for fostering partnerships between the Command Executives, CCSU Leaders and national teams/centres of excellence to solve complex corporate issues through the provision of consistent high quality customer service to stakeholders to foster a positive reputation and trust in the team. The Team Leader is expected to manage and prioritise projects and teamwork-flow to ensure solutions and initiatives that deliver value-add outcomes.
In addition to specialist capabilities and/or relevant qualifications, you will need to demonstrate the ability to thrive in a complex and challenging environment and have a strong track record in supporting and leading a team to achieve results.
You will be highly regarded for your contemporary leadership capabilities, aptitude for strategic and lateral thinking, and relationship building. You will be an effective communicator and change management advocate, and contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the AFP Code of Conduct, AFP Governance Instruments and other regulatory frameworks.

What will you do?
As the Team Leader Planning and Performance you will be required to:
- Work collaboratively to effectively align annual business planning with organisational and command-specific strategic direction, actively support major projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of AFP New Policy Proposals (NPPs) through the provision of Command-specific data estimations, actioning requests from the Chief Operating Officer Portfolio and tracking the Command's progress in relation to New Policy Initiatives (NPI).
- Lead a team in the delivery of risk management activities, including assessing the Command's operational risks and mitigation strategies.
- Support the Command during Senate Estimates, including responding to queries as they arise as well as overseeing the coordination and preparation of accurate and meaningful Command specific data.
- Provision of insightful, persuasive and trusted advice to a diverse range of senior stakeholders and frontline clients.
- Research and identify opportunities for improvement, utilising innovative concepts and methodologies to enhance business outcomes and facilitate change.
- Oversee and ensure the delivery of all relevant business, strategic and enterprise-wide reporting requirements.
- Have excellent relationship skills, including the ability to provide insightful, persuasive and trusted advice to a diverse range of senior stakeholders.
- Provide effective leadership of the team ensuring a results driven approach is fostered and adopted as well as the ability to lead continuous service delivery improvement.
