Team Leader Waste Services - Relocate to Wadeye
The West Daly Regional Council covers 14,000 square kilometres and is located about 300 to 420 kilometres south-west of Darwin. The area is mainly rural, with three Indigenous communities at Peppimenarti, Nganmarriyanga and Wadeye which are managed by West Daly Regional Council (Council).

For the successful candidate, this role offers: 6 weeks annual leave, 11% superannuation, relocation assistance, locality allowance, heavily subsidised accommodation, uniforms, and base salary of $70,381.39!
The Team Leader – Waste Services efficiently manages Waste Services within the Council. Reporting to the Community Services Manager, the Team Leader oversees waste management operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting environmentally sustainable practices.
Primary Tasks
- Supervise waste management operations, sorting, and disposal;
- Ensure compliance with waste management regulations and environmental standards;
- Implement waste management plans to optimize efficiency and minimize environmental impact;
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to promote waste reduction and recycling initiatives;
- Provide leadership and guidance to waste management team members, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement;
- Comply with all Council’s policies and procedures;
- Any other duties as directed by the Community Services Manager;
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Previous experience in a similar position;
- Ability to work with limited supervision and direction;
- Ability to plan, organise and manage resources efficiently;
- Good reading and writing comprehension;
- Sound knowledge of the principles of Health, Safety & Risk.
Qualifications & Other Information
- Current Northern Territory Driver’s Licence;
- Current Working with Children/Ochre Card;
- National Criminal History Check clearance;
- Qualifications in environmental science, waste management, business management or a related field can be advantageous.
