The Technical Business Analyst will focus on blend value monitoring, blend optimisation, mine optimisations, commercial modelling, production and quality coordination for sales forecasting and budgeting requirements, along with routine reporting requirements.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Co-ordinate forecast production information and align with sales – outlining opportunities, risks, and unsold position.
  • Identify external blending opportunities and assist in the co-ordination of purchases.
  • Facilitate opportunities for production optimisation across all Yancoal sites.
  • Strong commercial understanding of the value of quality and blend management to optimise revenue for the group.
  • Undertake projects to continuously improve the team’s ability to provide Marketing and Logistic support to the business.
  • Assist in the implementation of the company’s business strategies.
  • Maintain and develop ongoing close working relationship with key members of each site-based team – specifically the mine site Technical and Commercial teams.
  • Ensure strong, enduring business relationships with customers, external parties and internal business units based on integrity, honesty, consistency, and reliability.

What does your daily life look like at Yancoal?

To be successful in the role you will require the following skills & experience:

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Commercial disciplines, Mining, Geology, Metallurgy, Coal Quality, or related discipline.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in business and or commercial/sales analysis functions.
  • Some mine related operational experience is preferred but not essential.  
  • Operational Experience can be in Mine Engineering, Geology, Coal Quality, Superintending, Process Engineering and/or Logistics/Infrastructure.
  • In depth knowledge of modelling and pit to port scheduling and planning techniques is preferred.

Skills:

  • Commercial modelling, analytical skills are essential.
  • Proven organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail in delivering accurate documentation.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders to achieve required outcomes.
  • Results-focused approach with the ability to identify value and act on opportunities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all Microsoft applications (in particular Excel).
  • Strong process development and implementation skills
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to foster strong relationships and build rapport with people from different backgrounds.
  • Flexible attitude to adapt to changing requirements and directives.

What do you need to be successful in the role?
