We’re looking for a Technical Director – Mechanical Engineer (Renewables) to join our Future Energy Group. This is a whole of business focused role including technical advisory and delivery of gas and diesel power generation related projects, technical resources development and mentoring, as well as thought leadership and business development.
GHD has rich expertise in delivering projects for clients through EPCM, EPC, Owner’s Engineer and other delivery models in Western Australia and elsewhere. This is complimented by our local team’s strong pedigree in the end-to-end power system design which includes generation, transmission, distribution, renewables, battery energy storage and hydrogen technology. Located in Perth, you will work with a team of highly experienced engineers and project managers and be engaged our local, interstate and global operations.
Working with an energetic and impactful team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
Supporting the Renewables and Generation team, the Future Energy Business Group and broader GHD groups in gas and diesel power generation and hybrid generation projects including solar, wind and BESS.
Providing leadership and resolution on all technical issues related to the gas and diesel power generation systems.
Providing gas and diesel power generation technical advisory, Owner's & Lender's Engineering; documentation, and management of gas and diesel power generation and associated asset design projects, i.e., grid connected and off-grid (micro-grid) gas and diesel generation and hybrid systems.
Providing detailed practical and technical knowledge of designing, selection, installation, commissioning and maintenance and operation of mechanical systems.
Providing leadership and coordinate resources including inputs from other offices, sub consultants and other suppliers.
Contributing to the development of GHD’s knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering including planning, design and construction.
Providing technical expertise and technical reports to clients, following both client and GHD guidelines.
Liaising with clients, build new and maintaining existing client relationships with Power Generation clients, leading and contributing to the preparation of proposals and bids for projects.
Coordinating gas and diesel components in multidiscipline projects across Western Australia, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines and SE Asia.
Mentoring junior engineers.
What you will bring to the team:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Project Management (highly regarded)
CPEng or actively working towards obtainment
Minimum 15 years industry experience (consulting preferable)
Well-developed communication skills - both verbal and written.
Sound technical understanding of gas and diesel power generation.
Team player, cooperative with other staff with open sharing of information and knowledge.
Ability to work independently and develop strategic pursuits for the Renewables and Generation team.
Preparing / leading job-winning proposals and marketing pursuits.
Sound judgement and decisiveness - proactive, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
