This role is to support the power team who work throughout Australasia on iconic projects that are Shaping the Energy transition journey to net-zero carbon emissions. We deliver innovative technical solutions to our high voltage power generation, transmission and distribution clients across Australasia.
The Opportunity
With a strong pipeline of exciting projects, our team is growing. We are looking for an experienced Protection Engineer to bolster our technical capability to deliver high voltage substation designs to an enviable list of transmission, distribution and industrial clients. This opportunity will allow you to be involved in major energy transition projects in Australia and New Zealand alongside a high performing team.
This role can be based in either our Sydney or Melbourne office.
In this role, the key responsibilities include:
- Provide key leadership and support to our Power Systems Protection design team, clients and projects.
- Dedication to fostering a culture of excellence in technical designs, where creativity, innovation, and meticulous attention to detail meet to drive quality solutions for our clients
- Development of Protection Electrical designs for transmission and distribution substations up to voltages of 500 kV.
- Undertaking Peer reviews of designs undertaken by others
- Work with junior engineers to train and mentor them in preparing protection designs - Guide, mentor and provide leadership and training to emerging engineers.
- Apply a deeper understanding of engineering principles to devise and deliver new approaches in order to solve more complex problems.
- Develop understanding of client standards.
- Undertake self-checks of work packages using standard checklists, preparing packages for verification and quality checks.
- Collaborate with teams based in Australia and New Zealand to deliver coordinated designs to meet client expectations.

What we’ll like about you
Your technical skills are based on solid fundamentals and have been proven through the delivery of power engineering projects. You are experienced and have a passion for coaching and mentoring emerging engineers.
Preferably, you will have proven capability across a range of the following areas:
- Proven experience in design for transmission and distribution substations or HV reticulation systems.
- Significant experience in developing protection designs for high voltage electricity networks.
- Experience in delivering secondary designs for high voltage electricity networks advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to work well with others to deliver as a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Inquisitive nature and desire to grow your career.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a team of engineers and designers (locally and/or internationally) to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Ability to multitask and take pride in delivering successful outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
- Any consultancy experience is advantageous but not essential.
