About the Role

We are seeking applications for the role of Technical Officer (Electrical) in the East Yard Coordination team within Port Maintenance at Finucane Island. The role will be on a standard residential Mon - Friday roster. Reporting to the East Yard Electrical Area Owner, you will be part of a team responsible for ensuring that we are maintaining safe, reliable, and operational plant and equipment within East Yard.

Collaborating with multiple teams including Shift Maintenance, with whom you will provide in-field assistance & fault diagnosis support for medium to long term electrical related issues/breakdowns, but also work with our onsite OT & Control Systems, 8/6 Maintenance and Shutdown Maintenance teams on our long-term maintenance strategies and works.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm's way. Conformance with the BHP Billiton Charter, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations

  • Provide onsite support and coaching and mentoring to the maintenance & broader teams using your technical skills and ability in fault recovery and fault finding of equipment.

  • Perform breakdown investigations, field checks, small projects, bridging/override audits, equipment performance reviews and various continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Liaise with other technology support functions within BHP both onsite and remotely for various small projects and future works.

  • Reviewing short/long term plant/equipment performance and identifying issues/problems, formalising action plans and being responsible for scoping rectification works, which you will support through to execution.

  • Follow and actively aim to update and improve any WIN'S/PMI's and procedures used throughout your time within the role.

  • Conduct quality risk assessments and ensure you follow these when executing tasks.

About You

Skills and experience desired:

  • Experience in the mining or heavy industry sectors is essential.
  • Advanced technical knowledge and training in the use of PLCs (AB & GE), VVVFs (Siemens), networks, instrumentation, HV/LV motors and Citect systems (or similar, relevant systems)
  • Configuration, monitoring and tuning of VVVF's, electrical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Assisting in PLC and control systems hardware configuration and replacement
  • Experience in project scoping and reviews for future improvement works
  • Experience with onsite fixed plant maintenance on electrical equipment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience in the planning and scheduling activities related to fixed plant preventative maintenance
  • Experienced in 1SAP/Fiori work management

Qualifications Required:

  • Electrical Trade Certificate (WA Electrical Licence) and/ or electrical tertiary related discipline
  • Current, minimum C class valid driver's licence
  • Current Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
