Barrick Gold’s Porgera operation is seeking experienced and dedicated individuals to join our team at the Porgera Mine as Reliability Technical Specialists. We have four exciting vacancies available, each focusing on specific equipment categories listed below. We are searching for seasoned tradespeople with technical expertise in the field.

Papua New Guinea 

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. The Porgera Gold Mine employs over 2,500 Papua New Guineans, and over the life of the mine, it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports. About the Role 

As a Reliability Technical Specialist, you will utilize historical maintenance information and real-time data to identify downtime trends and root causes. Your focus will be on developing corrective action plans to eliminate downtime, which may involve alternative parts selection, adjustments to maintenance strategies, education/training of maintenance crews, development of procedures, implementation of QA/QC for critical tasks, or other innovative solutions.

Role Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure accuracy of downtime information in the fleet management system and drive correct behaviors with shift supervisors.
• Identify parts and components with high consumption rates and develop solutions to reduce maintenance costs.
• Ensure optimal performance of plant and equipment through regular performance testing.
• Maintain quality control of work executed by maintenance crews and identify individual training needs for technicians.
• Regularly monitor safety and product improvement information released from OEMs.

1. Reliability Technical Specialist – Off Highway Trucks (OHT):

Significant experience with Caterpillar systems and expertise on 793, 789, 785, and 777 Caterpillar trucks, 3500 & C series engines required.

2. Reliability Technical Specialist – Auxiliary Equipment (Dozers, Graders, Loaders):

Must have significant experience with Caterpillar systems and proficiency on D10 dozers, 16M & 24MG graders, 992 loaders, Caterpillar 3500 & C series engines.

3. Reliability Technical Specialist – Shovels:

Expertise with Caterpillar systems and experience on Terex RH120E’s / Cat 6030 excavator and shovels, Caterpillar C series, and Cummins QSK engines preferred.

4. Reliability Technical Specialist – Drills:

Experience with Epiroc Systems and proficiency on Epiroc DM45HP, DMLSP, DMLHP drills, Cummins QSK engines highly desirable.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Trade qualified
• Very seasoned tradesperson with a guru level of expertise.
• Dealership experience is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in a reliability or business intelligence role is highly desirable.
• Root cause analysis training, especially Caterpillar Applied Failure Analysis 1 & 2, preferred.
• Intermediate-level Excel skills are highly desirable.
• Strong report writing skills and the ability to source and interpret data are essential.
• Ability to develop and manage corrective action plans for reliability improvement campaigns is essential.
• Background in QA/QC highly desirable.
