Technical Writer

The roleAs part of our Naval Combat Systems group, the Technical Writer will be responsible for developing a range of technical documentation (print and online).Further, the successful candidate will:Undertake Technical Writing duties as necessaryBe familiar with best practice and trends in Technical Writing and in particular as implemented in the defence industryDevelop product Operator, Maintenance and Software User Manuals as requiredReview and edit documents from Technical Writer peers and other team members.Work closely with Software and/or Hardware Engineers and Software Developers to develop new and existing documentationValidate documentation against the product Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role. About youYour skills and experience will include:Proven writing skills with the ability to write in plain EnglishExperience using S1000D to develop and maintain documentation.Experience with writing and editing large and/or complex documents to an advanced level in Microsoft Word.Broad experience with Windows applications and Microsoft Office.Experience with using FrameMaker, or similar, to develop and maintain documentation.Experience as a Technical Writer in a hardware or software development environment.As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
