The LGC project will unlock the current bottle neck on the South East Queensland rail network to enable more services to run more frequently and reliably between Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast and is a key infrastructure investment ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. With extensive track upgrades, 9 new train stations, 5 level crossing removals, park 'n' ride upgrades and new active travel pathways, this transformational project will deliver significant benefits to communities, customers and businesses along the 20km corridor.
Reporting to the Manager (Environmental, Sustainability and Cultural Heritage) you will provide coordination and specialist expertise to enable TMR to achieve its environmental management, sustainability and cultural heritage commitments throughout project delivery.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure effective environmental, sustainability and cultural heritage management and legislative compliance in the procurement, design, construction and Maintenance phases.
- Maintain liaison and consultation with other Environmental Officers to ensure consistency across various project tasks.
- Manage Consultants in the delivery of environmental, cultural heritage and sustainability services and activities.
- Work collaboratively with the LGC project team to develop a positive team culture and support effective relationships at all levels.
- Maintain effective relationships with other agencies, organisations and stakeholders concerned with the management of environmental and cultural heritage matters.
- Lead in-house and external environmental assessments for environment studies, and impact assessment studies, permits and approvals to meet departmental and legislative requirements and timeframes.
- Ensure compliance with legislative obligations for environmental management and cultural heritage.
- Develop responses to ministerial and public enquiries in relation environmental matters.
- Report on the environmental compliance of contractors.
- Assist Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) ratings assessments, compliance checks and reporting.
You will also have environmental management experience, providing high level environmental management advice and recommendations that contribute to improving environmental strategies and outcomes.
