Job DescriptionHysata is on a mission is to accelerate the shift from fossil fuels to green hydrogen, with a disruptive approach to electrolysis.The Hysata founding team comprises electrolyser industry veterans and the company is backed by leading cleantech investors. Our breakthrough technology has been recognised in top-tier journal Nature Communications and has created a buzz in the green hydrogen sector due to its promise to revolutionise the economics of green hydrogen production. This is possible due to Hysata’s unique combination of low capex and an ultrahigh system efficiency of 95% - a gigantic leap vs existing electrolysers which are at around 75%.On the pathway to net-zero, green hydrogen is going to be a massive new multi-trillion-dollar global industry, of similar scale to today’s natural gas industry. With its world-beating technology and strong customer pull, Hysata is targeting becoming the leading global electrolyser player, with multi-gigawatt-scale manufacturing and putting a major dent in global emissions.We are seeking a Technician who will focus on assembling and testing devices to assess their performance, reliability, and durability. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on skills, an innovative spirit for continuous improvement of our testing apparatus and processes, and the ability to interpret test results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.Experience with electrochemical device assembly and testing in an analytical or wet lab setting will be useful. You will thrive in the fast paced start-up world where no two days are the same. You’ll be joining a team of smart, driven, collaborative and highly dedicated individuals who love solving engineering challenges and who are excited to be fighting the climate crisis.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESInspect, organise, and prepare device components and testing hardware;Assemble, test, and monitor electrochemical devices with high attention to detail;Document results and test parameters to facilitate performance traceability;Critically and continuously review all assembly methods and test processes to improve robustness and reduce unwanted variability;Set up and maintain electrochemical and other lab instruments;Collaborate with team members to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues that arise;Be involved in data reviews to enable data driven learning;Maintain laboratory conditions to ensure it is orderly and safe for the rest of the Hysata team; andProvide input on SOPs and safety protocols for new and existing laboratory processes.ABOUT YOUA vocational or TAFE degree in Chemistry, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar field (preference for experience in Electrochemistry);2+ years of experience in device assembly and testing in an analytical or wet lab setting;Experience operating electrochemical test equipment such as Biologics, Arbin;Familiarity with electrical work like soldering and cable construction;Motivated, capable of working independently within a multi-disciplinary environment;Ability to adapt within a highly dynamic, fast-paced work environment;Clear and open communication;Experience with electrolyzers, battery, or energy storage systems, CAD, and fabrication methods (3D printing, machining, laser cutting) a bonus.
