Universal Pictures International (UPI) owns and operates direct theatrical marketing and distribution of feature films in many locations around the globe including Austria, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Switzerland and UK & Eire. In other territories UPI market and distribute movies through its JV offices, as well as in select territories, licensees who are contracted to distribute on UPl's behalf as well as production operations, a leading television stations group, and world-renowned theme parks.
The core responsibility of the Trade Marketing Executive is to ensure UPI films have a strong presence in cinemas and are well promoted across all cinema owned communication channels.
Working directly with the Head of Partnerships & Trade Marketing ANZ this role will prepare product presentations and develop promotions to drive exhibitor marketing initiatives for Warner Bros. Pictures films under UPI.
The executive will maintain a strong working relationship with all exhibitor marketing teams and ensure the optimisation of film marketing materials and content in exhibitor environments.
This position collaborates with sales and marketing divisions and is the day to day contact for Trade Marketing teams.
Job Description
TRADE MARKETING MATERIALS
- Management of all Trade Marketing materials including creative briefing and approvals for all titles
- Develop and manage bespoke POS items such as photo walls, corridor takeovers, light projections, stunts.
- Management of all FOH activity including briefing, budgets and creative approvals
- Work closely with the Head of Partnerships ANZ to ensure the timely and effective development, delivery and placement of bespoke film assets and content including event in theatre materials, co-branded content pieces, digital and social assets to maximise all exhibitor platforms
- Liaise with exhibition contacts on latest material assets available on UPI Media (trailers, one sheets, digital one sheets, digital panel executions
- Work with Media leads on contra placements and reciprocal tagging
- Work with Media Leads on negotiating co-op advertising opportunities on relevant films.
- Work closely with Publicists to maximise talent access opportunities for on screen ID’s and meet and greets.
- Work closely with the Head of Partnerships ANZ to evolve theatre-based movie promotions, including, special promotional screenings, premium screen takeovers, movie themed paper packaged popcorn boxes and drinks cups, branded gift cards etc.
- Drive ticket sales incentive promotions with exhibition partners on priority titles.
- Manage relationships & regular communication with independent cinemas incl. opportunities for promotional activity.
- Develop strong relationships with NSW and ACT based exhibition partners and maximise Local Area Marketing activity.
- Work with Independent and to Co-ordinate the regional subsidy support (budget, approvals and creative distribution) for key regional exhibition partners.
- In collaboration with Head of Partnerships ANZ, Prepare Trade Marketing Strategy for each film.
- Prepare and manage Trade Marketing budget for each film.
- Prepare post reports on campaign activity – including performance of promotions, presale results etc.
- Preparation of the Trade Marketing Guide for nominated titles.
- Prepare cinema marketing summaries for sales and marketing team.
- Participate in weekly Sales meetings
- Attend regular exhibition marketing meetings
- Participate in Marketing brainstorms and planning activity and build cinema promotions and programs.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Understanding of marketing fundamentals is essential
- Understanding of the exhibition landscape / terminology would be favourable
- Exhibits professionalism and confidence in presenting in boardroom settings.
- Attention to detail is critical
- Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficient in Powerpoint and Excel
- Strong negotiation skills
- Digital knowledge and experience would be looked on favourably
- Ability to work on own initiative and within team a environment;
- Impeccable administration and highly organised
- Efficient and proven ability to multi-task several projects at one time prioritising against multiple deadlines

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Trade Marketing, B2B or marketing within the entertainment industry
