Kyabram Fauna Park Life Sciences team. These positions will continue the development and evolution of Zoos Victoria's animal management with the target of providing best practice animal care in a holistic environment.Reporting to the Senior Veterinarian, the incumbent will be a zoo professional with exceptional Vet Nurse and Keeping skills. They will be required to have qualifications in Vet Nursing in a zoological setting and preferably a Keeping qualifications or skills. The Life Sciences team is a fast-paced team environment with a strong focus on safety, culture and values - candidates must have strong teamwork skills, be open to change and possess a mature, enthusiastic and positive attitude.The candidate must possess:
- Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
- Desirable - Cert III in Wildlife & Exhibited Animal Care (or equivalent)
- Experience in Veterinary Nursing in a zoo setting and wildlife animal husbandry encompassing a broad range of experience across a variety of animal species
- Demonstrated ability to assess, report and communicate on observations of animal behaviour, health and welfare.
- Strong ability to be flexible, cope with frequent and unpredictable workload changes to daily routine and workload, and to work, at times, in a pressured environment due to the demands and difficulties associated with delivering health care to animals.
- Demonstrated ability to enhance a positive work culture with a strong desire for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to assess, report and communicate on observations of animal behaviour, health and welfare.
- A strong focus on safety and identifying hazards in the workplace.
- Employee status Victoria Working with Children Check Card.
As part of the
Kyabram Fauna Park's Life Sciences Team, you will be required to work a roster across a 7-day week, including weekends and public holidays if required.
