Hardings Group is a locally owned civil construction company on the North West Coast of Tasmania. We offer a range of services, from asphalt production, to linemarking, surfacing, road and civil construction.
We are looking for experienced Traffic Controllers to join our Traffic Management Division at our Ulverstone Depot. This important role works closely with all parts of our business to keep our teams and the public safe during road works.
Your skills will make a big difference in ensuring safety on various projects.
Key tasks of the role:
- Perform all traffic control tasks including; set out, monitoring and pack up of signs, stop/slow bat operations
- Manage worksite set up and changes to ensure the safety of workers and members of the public
- Monitor traffic flow and behavior to ensure traffic management set up is working as expected and respond to changes in traffic volumes and weather conditions in a timely manner
- Complete traffic management site records
- Know the required legislation, regulations and codes relevant to temporary traffic management, and be able to apply these principles onsite
- Report on site hazards, near misses and incidents
- Conduct vehicle prestarts and maintain records
About you:
- Previous experience in traffic control on Category 2 roads is highly regarded
- Physically fit – load and unload vehicles with signage and equipment, set out of signs, stand for long periods and extensive walking
- Strong communication skills – UHF communication, relay site changes, consult with site crew on changes
- Excellent situational awareness – able to identify risks and adapt to environment
- Able to stay composed and task-oriented, even in demanding situations
- Strong time management and problem solving skills
- Able to work as part of a team and individually
- Reliable and available to do overtime, weekend and night works if required
Required Qualifications/ licences:
- Current Traffic Control qualification
- Construction induction - white card
- Manual drivers licence and confident driving manual vehicle (Medium Rigid licence highly valued)
