We are seeking an experienced Communications Officer for a contract opportunity in a leading state government agency on the Sunshine Coast.
In this role, you will actively participate as a member of the Stakeholder and Issues Management team with the core role being researching and drafting responses to ministerial and executive correspondence. Exceptional skills in stakeholder/customer management and in building and maintaining relationships is critical in this role.
As the right candidate for this role, you will be required to advise on, develop, implement and provide communications services primarily for executive correspondence, issues management, stakeholder relationship management, media relations and community engagement to ensure effective relationship outcomes for the department.
Good hourly rate on offer dependent on experience and skills.
Your major responsibilities will include:
- Assist the team to provide well-considered, accurate and timely communications advice and correspondence
- Coordinate, research, draft and edit communications material including responses to ministerial and executive correspondence, briefing notes, media statements, responses to media enquiries, speech notes, parliamentary business, online engagement and newsletters
- Undertake community engagement and stakeholder consultation activities during project development and delivery
- Coordinate and update the content of regional webpages to ensure relevance to projects and initiatives
- Provide training, advice and support to regional staff and consultants to ensure consistency, enhance communication skills and improve relationships with key stakeholders and the community
Requirements:
- A current Class ‘C’ Drivers Licence
- Experience in a communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector, will be highly regarded
