The Role
We are currently looking for a Trainee Laboratory Technician to join our busy Asphalt Plant in Yatala on a permanent basis.
Key responsibilities for this position will include:
- Carrying out a wide range of testing for construction materials, such as asphalt and aggregates
- Undertaking testing results analysis and interpretation
- Applying appropriate procedures and equipment based on testing requirements
- Setting up, calibrating, and maintaining equipment
- Devising standard operation procedures for test equipment
- Preparation of reports and assessments
- Ensuring the safe operation of equipment
- Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
The Ideal Candidate will possess the following essential skills and experience:
- Valid Driver’s license with the ability to drive a manual vehicle
- Ability to work flexible hours including night shift & weekends as required
- Flexibility to travel and work away when required
- Ability to work under pressure and work through issues
- Self-motivated with the ability to follow instructions
Highly Desirable, not essential:
- Have knowledge of Asphalt Testing and Manufacturing process
- Knowledge of bitumen grades and properties
- Experience in laboratory testing techniques and procedures relevant to Asphalt
- Knowledge of laboratory set up and calibration requirements
- Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques
- Experience in safe handling and storage of chemicals
