We are offering a range of traineeships to help kickstart your career.
If you want to join our team and help make Ipswich a vibrant city for all and are interested in learning more about a specific field, we have the below traineeships available:
Business Administration (Certificate III in Business)
Gain experience in one of our customer experience, workplace safety and wellbeing, environment, libraries or civic centre teams. You will help with day-to-day administration functions, correspondence and customer service.
Performing Arts (Certificate III in Live Production and Services Worker)
Go behind the scenes at the Ipswich Civic Centre and work on helping create productions and events.
Parks and Gardens (Certificate II in Horticulture)
Experience working in some of the best parks in Ipswich. You will help with planting, pruning, pest identification and operate small machinery.
Conservation (Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management)
Bring your love of nature and work on conservation restoration and wildlife protection in some of our most natural areas. There are 2 traineeships available with 1 traineeship dedicated to providing the opportunity for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person to experience on culturally significant lands.
Animal Care (Certificate II in Animal Care)
Care for animals at the Ipswich Nature Centre undertaking feeding, maintenance of enclosures and customer service.
Civil Construction (Certificate II in Civil Construction)
If you enjoy a hands-on role, in this traineeship you will work with outdoor teams to construct and maintain our network of assets, such as roads and footpaths.

About you
The 12-month traineeships under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work Program will give you:
- Practical work skills while working full time
- A nationally recognised qualification
- The chance to join a great team working for our community
- A supportive environment working in a field you are interested in
To be successful in these traineeships you will:
- Be organised, reliable and able to follow work instructions
- Have a genuine interest in the entertainment industry
- Be prepared to work in a team and communicate well
- Be dedicated to completing a Nationally Accredited qualification
- Ideally, have completed a Ready for Work course or equivalent
To be eligible to obtain a certificate during the traineeships, you need to:
- Be a Queensland resident with Australian or New Zealand citizenship or eligibility to work in Australia
- Have not completed this qualification previously

Pre employment checks
Successful trainees must be eligible to work in Australia and agree to provide information for pre-employment screening which may include a criminal history check and pre-employment medical.
About the benefits
The traineeships are for a 12 month period with a salary between $17,000 and $33,000 per annum, plus superannuation of up to 12.5%. The salary is dependent on age and level of schooling achieved.
